New Additions to Our Barnyard
After the unfortunate passing of our beloved sheep, Squeaky, and goat, Danny Boy, we are happy to announce the newest additions to our barnyard.  Morris and Capricorn (nicknamed Cap), mother and son, were donated to us by the Cornell family.  Agnes (nicknamed Aggie) came from a local breeder and although large, still has another year to grow!  We are so happy that they will keep April, our other...

Lakota Wolf Preserve
In our yearlong study of “Communities,” we first studied human communities.  We next explored the world of wolves, as they have unique and strong communities, much like our own.  To culminate our study we visited the Lakota Wolf Preserve in Columbia, New Jersey.

Harvestfest
Today’s first day of our annual Harvestfest celebration was a grand time for everyone!  Delicious treats, fun games (created and manned by the Elementary students), and a visit from Disney and Zykar made the day quite memorable for all of the kids!

Final Archaeology Post
What an experience!  We found out that our site contained two levels - the bottom level was the original ceremony site and the upper level was the reinforcement to the first site.  We figure that the story behind this site (of which the same site that came originally from West Africa) is one of ambiguity.  Archaeologists today cannot figure out the real reason for this site, but it is believed...

A Visit From Aaron Chase
Aaron Chase is not only Kendall’s dad, but also a famous free-ride stunt mountain biker!  He enthralled the kids and adults alike today with his visit and performance!  He did a number of stunts, talked about his gear and bike safety, handed out stickers and gave each child a high-five!  Some of the Elementary girls swore they’d never wash their hands again!!  You can visit his website...

Archaeology Day 2
Today the mystery intensifies!  We found many more artifacts, some of which we began removing, including 4 broken staffs from ancient rulers, meaning they had died, and one unbroken staff curiously enough.  We are wondering why some of the artifacts seem to have been placed in different layers, signifying that this ceremony had to be repeated more than once.

First Day of Archaeology Camp
The kids were truly excited to begin their week-long adventure in Archaeology!  We began with a slide show and maps of the site, called Djenne (pronounced Jenna) in West Africa, southwest of Timbuktu.  The children were taught the meaning of archaeology and the questions and methods used in digging for artifacts within a site.  They worked hard, moving lots of dirt, but enjoying the thrill and...

International Day of Peace
Our Elementary students have joined the Roots and Shoots organization, a Jane Goodall organization dedicated to youth projects throughout the world that will help make this planet a better place. Today was the International Day of Peace and our students signed up to promote peace in their community by making peace doves and flying them in the front of the school to passersby.  They also marched in...
